The lobster

10•09•13

The folks at Wayfair.com sent along this lobster dog costume, and whoo boy! Let me just say: A costume THIS cute for big dogs! I never thought I’d see the day!

It fit Lucas (80 lbs) and Emmett (65 lbs with a big old barrel chest)!

Here’s a little bit of the fun we had with the costume.

Lucas from the side. (Interestingly, I snapped this one with my cell phone to post to Instagram, and the color came out truer than it did with our regular camera. This costume is definitely red like a lobster, not orange. Of course, it didn’t help that the walls and floor of this room are orange…)

Here’s the back view of Emmett. I had to get this pic because I just ADORE the little flipper on the bottom.

And Emmett posing for the side view. How cute is that claw?!

FYI – Emmett will be wearing this one for the big day! While Lucas is a good sport about costumes (costumes = cheese, so he’s a very happy boy for short spurts), Emmett loves costumes. They bring him treats and tons more attention than he usually gets. So he will have the pleasure of being a Halloween lobster.

Thanks to Wayfair.com for sending us this lobster and proving that big dogs CAN get cute costumes!

Tell me: Does your dog enjoy dressing up? Do you have a costume lined up for the holiday? What will your pup be?

Disclaimer: Wayfair.com sent us this costume for free, though these opinions and pictures are expressly my own.

Emmett is just the cutest lobster ever and I think I’m developing a huge crush on him in general. Ray is “clothes selective” in that he will wear some things and refuse others. I haven’t tried anything on Julius yet, but I think he will be ok with wearing clothes.

Back in January or February I was driving by a place and all of a sudden it struck me, I knew what Ray was going to be for Halloween. If I pull it off (and it is very simple so by that I mean if I get off my butt and get this together) there will be photos for Halloween.

Oh Maggie, how patient your precious dogs are, well at least Lucas and Emmitt. Will they be going to a party or door to door? We have a WoofGang pet store here in town and my grand-dog, Jasmine, a shih tzu, will be going to a Halloween party at the store. They have play days for them and they call it Yappy Hour, of course it is after work beginning a 5pm.

Our old neighborhood had a parade, which they always marched in, but there’s nothing like that here. They won’t be going door to door, but we’ve discovered that they scare the crap out of little kids (huge barking dogs…) but if we put them in a cute/cuddly costume, the kids feel MUCH more comfortable coming to the door. Have so much fun at your Halloween party – that sounds like a blast!!

I’ve never been big into dressing up pets, but that lobster costume is AWESOME! Emmett is so cute in it too. I especially like the “feelers” on the hoodie!

Yes! The feelers are great! To be honest, they kept getting in his eyes, but we were able to bend them out of the way, which made him much happier.

That is the best dog costume I’ve seen so far this season! The kids are going to love Emmett in that!

I would say they both look great. That is nice to see a good costume for big dogs.
