ISO a puppy.
ISO a calm puppy.
ISO a laid-back-ish puppy.
ISO a puppy who doesn’t chase cats.
ISO a calm, laid-back, yet confident puppy who tolerates cats, quirky middle-aged dogs who are neurotic about many things but still love to skitter, and kids. No, not kids. Babies. No, not babies. Toddlers.
Of the pit-bull-like-persuasion ideal, though not a deal-breaker.
Must be friendly. With dogs, cats, people, and kids. (Yes, kids are a separate entity from people.)
Doesn’t need to be house-trained, or trained at all for that matter. That other stuff, the personality stuff, is far more important.
I mean, we wouldn’t turn down a house-trained puppy, obvi.
OK, so, house-training ideal, though not required.
Must come from rescue.
Ideally in a foster home.
Not necessarily a foster pup, but needed exposure to cats, neurotic dogs, and kids babies toddlers, so probably definitely a foster pup.
Must be willing to spend all day every day at home with me, go for lots of hikes, maybe train with John, snuggle on the couch, get spoiled rotten with healthy food and yummy treats, go to the vet for well visits and vaccination, run around our fenced-in yard with Cooper, maybe even swim in our (separately fenced-in) swimming pool, sneak bites of food from Violet under the breakfast table, and snuggle, snuggle, snuggle.
Might as well shoot for the moon: Sunday-brunch-patio trained, too.
If you’ve seen this unicorn-puppy, call me!

Congrats for even considering a new puppy for you all!!!!! I am over the moon thrilled for you all and especially the new rescue. I rescued my pitbull just over 5 years ago, before I knew anything about pitbulls. She was 6 months old as I didn’t want a tiny puppy and she was great. I got her from the Detroit Humane Society, she was emaciated when found with worms and kennel cough. She could not hold down food for the first two days according to her records. But I digress. When I brought her home she NEVER, I repeat NEVER had an accident in the house. Yep we spend a lot of time going outside, and I crated her at night, and even then no messes in the crate, except after deworming once. She was tender with my youngest great niece who was an infant, and magical with all the toddlers that visited me, I kept a very close eye on he the first few visits, but never a problem. Now she is a 62 pound princess who is loved by all who meet her and the love of my life. I hope you get your new bundle of joy soon!!! Just a side note, she had adult teeth when I adopted her and they put her at six months old. The absolute best dog ever!

What a lovely story about bringing your sweet girl home! And what a good girl for never having an accident! Cooper’s record is nowhere near that stellar…
And I really appreciate your side note re: adult teeth. That might be another thing to add to my wild wish list because of allllll the baby stuff around the house.
Thank you so, so much for sharing and for your words of encouragement!

Your pup will come to you. I live in NJ so the rescues I know of are a nit too far. Good luck and I look forward to seeing the new pup when you get her
