Place your bets! What breeds make up Cooper?

06•12•15

While on the Mars tour at BlogPaws, we received a Wisdom Panel 3.0 DNA test kit. I actually had it in my head that I didn’t want to DNA test Cooper and so had passed on an opportunity to do so already this year. But then…

I looked it over, and saw that they’ve added in a new component since we did the 2.0 version with Lucas: Multidrug Sensitivity (MDR1) genetic mutation screening. Now, if any dog is going to have a genetic mutation that can result in serious adverse drug reactions, it’s Cooper, the dog who’s allergic to nearly everything. So, even though I was totally sure a month or so ago that I wasn’t going to do a DNA test on Coop, well, here I am doing a DNA test on Coop!

Some stats: He’s about 4.5 years old, 38 pounds (underweight), approximately 21 inches at the shoulder (approx… he wouldn’t stop wiggling), myriad health problems ranging from allergies to tremors, and seriously obsessed with squirrels.

Some pics, including two puppy pics:

I’m going to swab his cheek over the weekend and hit the post office on Monday! Will share the results as soon as they arrive.

So, what do you think?? Place your bets! What will the results will be?

Happy weekend, everyone!

Whatever breeds make the most handsome, loveable dog — those will be the dominant genes in Cooper.

I’m going with Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever (because he reminds me so much of Sampson.)

    I’m figuring he’s a Golden Resneezer.

So pittie is a given, I want to say rotti because of his colour and boxer because he has to have something in him to make him look similar to Cash or maybe he is part RR

Hmmm…I’m going to say Boxer and Jack Russell. Which would make him a Jack in the Box. 😉

Wow…we had this done on our Tino and I was pretty surprised at the results. Always thought of him as a classic Shepherd mix, but no Shepherd at all. I’m going with Dobie, Ridgeback, PitBull, and Beagle.

He looks just like my Bailey. Terrier Boxer mix is what we think she is.

So many good guesses already! I am going to say Pittie, Boxer, and Lab. Thought I bet there is something really unexpected in there!
I love that they’ve added that additional screening now.

I think Pittie & Lab would make sense only because they’re quite common; but something tells me his will be full of at least 1 or 2 surprises 🙂

I think he’s got some Ridgeback and Miniature Pinscher in him, along with some Lab.
