This past weekend brought the first *real* snow of the winter. Sure, it’s been painfully cold on and off for weeks, but we really haven’t had much snow at all. I’m certainly not complaining! Some Indiana winters stretch from October to March, so I’m pretty happy that we’ve only had the one big weekend of snow.
Of course, Cooper and Emmett aren’t fans. Even in his coats, Cooper doesn’t want to stay out for longer than it takes to do his business.
Lucas, though, loves snow. Loves, loves, LOVES snow. He could stay out and play all day, but when he doesn’t have anyone to play with, he sort of pouts. Luckily, his best friend in the whole world, Cady, loves snow just as much as he does! And, thankfully, she had some free time in her schedule to come over for a play date.
It is VERY difficult to capture the fun on my phone when they’re running and pummeling, but here are a few snaps plus a short video of their joy!
It’s nice to capture these shots before the snow gets… used…
I tried for a video, too. Here’s a 20-second glimpse of what they did for a about an hour!

They sure had a blast!!
How was your weekend? Did you and your pup get outside for some winter fun? Did your area get hit with “Winter Storm Pandora”? (When did they start naming winter storms??)
Me and Stanley would love to play with yous in your snow!
Your Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
You guys would have a LOT of fun! It looks like you enjoy the snow as much as he does!
That little “gotcha” jump at the end! I can’t even! We have too much snow for poor Daisy, who likes to run (read: hop like a crazy bunny) through the drifts, but can no longer find a place to potty! I have to lift her over the drifts into what look like shallow spots! And we’re supposed to get more snow in Indiana. Poor thing won’t know what to do with herself!
Awww!! Poor Daisy!! We ended up digging a little path for Cooper through our yard for a similar reason… We’re in Bloomington and getting a dusting today. I’m hoping that this is the last of it!!
The Weather Channel took it upon themselves to start naming winter storms a few years back. I don’t think NOAA or other government agencies are participating.
According to Hershey the rain storm we had this morning was called “Nope, I’m Not Staying Out In This For Even A Minute!”
Annoying.
Sweet Hershey! I don’t like being out in rain storms either!
Cady had a blast! She LOVES the snow so much. She will always take time out of her busy schedule of barking at the construction guys (and the people who walk down the street, and anyone who goes into their garage, and a leaf blowing in the wind) to play in the snow with Lucas!
Let’s see what the weather does this weekend! Perhaps they can play on Sunday!
We’re so lucky that dogs are easily amused…
I know!! I sure miss those days when snow could keep me busy and entertained all afternoon… now, snow just makes me think… I’m gonna have to shovel all that. 😉
Cute pics and video! I’d love to see Rita play in the snow some day. No Pandora here! We did have some rain though late Sunday, which we needed!
(Oh and I meant to say… I read this earlier on my phone, but couldn’t find a way to comment using my phone. Could totally be user error on my part, but I thought I’d let you know!)
Thank you so much, Jackie! I’m not really sure, but I’ll check it out on my phone. (BUT!! A brand new design is coming soon! Saw the rough draft of it this morning! WOOP!! So, hopefully any issues like that will be taken care of!)
Always good to have a snow buddy.
Yes! These two are the best of friends, and they play so perfectly together! I’m so glad to have a friend for him right next door!!
How great that Lucas had a buddy come over to play in the snow. It looks like he had a blast! Oh, and I was wondering the same thing about winter storm names.
Yeah, when did that start?! So weird, and it makes it seem like a snowfall is some Epic Thing when really it’s just… winter. 🙂
Hey! We actually had some snow! Tulsa’s a great climate most of the year, but we don’t get much snow. It’s dry here, and we’re an odd geography.
You know… I guess I thought snow was typical for you. That’s interesting! Thank you for teaching me my new thing for today 🙂
Looks like someone has a girlfriend. 🙂
He sure does! They are definitely in love – Lucas stands at the upstairs window when Cady’s in her yard, and they bark at each other. It’s too cute!
It’s so much fun to watch them play in the snow! All three of ours love it. But Cricket won’t just run and play….she has to have a ball thrown for her. Since Sheba has been recovering, Luke hasn’t really had anyone to run and play with, but we hope it won’t be much longer until Sheba is back at it.
