Our drive Monday was long and uneventful. There were some nice rest areas where we were able to go for walks to break up the monotony of driving, but mostly it was uninteresting highway (although I’m listening to a book-on-CD, so that helps!). Emmett was a champ the whole time!
We arrived at my mother-in-law’s house and had a relaxing evening hanging out with her sweet dog, Lucy, and going for a neighborhood walk. Then, yesterday morning we met a friend for lunch right on the bay. It was lovely! And she brought Em cookies, so he was happy!
As for today, well… Let me back up a step…
So, since we started this journey, everyone’s been asking what inspired it. In part it was his bucket list, but the bucket list items that relate to the east coast came second to the real reason.
The real reason?
The whole truth?
Why are Emmett and I driving allllll the way out east?
What’s the impetus?
Can I keep delaying? HA! Here goes:
Emmett and I had the immense honor of being chosen for the 2015 Pinups for Pitbulls calendar!
TA-DA!!!!
I wasn’t allowed to tell until after the shoot, which was today.
Here’s me, Emmett, and Little Darling, the incredible, big-hearted founder of Pinups for Pitbulls after the shoot.
We had so much fun. You guys, I have never in my life had so much makeup on my face! Or hairspray! The outfit and set were seriously adorable (THAT is still a secret!) and the makeup artist and photographers were so incredible – especially since I had no clue what I was doing.
Emmett did great! He’s such a clingy little guy that he didn’t particularly love when I was in another area getting put together, but he had a blast hanging out with Little Darling and the rest of the crew. At one point, she remarked about how food motivated he is! Oh, so true!
Emmett’s part in the scene was AMAZING. He did everything that was asked, got a little over-excited, but reigned it in and pulled it off.
I can not wait for you guys to see the final photo. You’re going to buy the calendar, right?!??! 🙂 It comes out in October. I’ll be sure to share all the info then.
So, back to the road trip, when we found out that we had the honor of being chosen for the calendar, and I realized we were going to have to do something like 25+ hours each way, that’s when I decided to turn it into a whole big thing.
There you have it! I know a couple of you figured it out already, but hopefully this is a fun surprise. It was incredible, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this wonderful organization and participate in all their advocacy and outreach efforts.
Tonight: We relax! Emmett is beat!
Tomorrow: We meet with Pet360 in the morning then head to the beach!
Hope you’re having a great week!
Total surprise! What fun!!!!
What a beautiful gift with Emmett! A photo shoot!!
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
How exciting!
You both rock!! Congratulations!! You are right, we can’t wait!!!!
What an honor. We can see why you made the long drive–celebrity and for a good cause. (Did you wear skimpies for the shoot?)
I can’t wait to see your awesome calendar pic. Hope the rest of your trip is fun and exciting.
Congrats – Emmett is the perfect pitbull ambassador! You two look incredible and I can’t wait to see the finished product!
OMG you look amazing. Totally not the regular Maggie!! And as for Emmett, can there ever be a more awesome dog. What a trooper he is. It’s all about making memories and what a memory you now have with dear sweet Emmett. Congratulations.
Congratulations!!! How cool is that?! I cannot wait to see it!
So excited for you guys!!! And hey, that’s a cute bracelet you have on. LOL
Wow, Maggie, that is so cool and exciting! Congratulations on getting selected to do it!
I was always in drama club in school and having all that makeup put on was kind of fun…eventually I got to where I could do it myself. I imagine this was something like doing a little acting?
That’s great! I will look for the calendar when it comes out. My husband and I got chosen to be part of the Memphis “We’re Pitbull People” Humane Society Campaign last year that got positive attention all over the city. She got a great shot of all four of our dogs wearing their agility ribbons and my husband and I in just a few takes. It was a comedy trying to get everyone to sit still and look and smile, but we were so proud to be part of the campaign 🙂
