Phew! What a day!
We’re tucked into our hotel after a looooong day of driving. Much longer than I anticipated. We hit a huge traffic jam just outside New Orleans because of – what appeared to be – an outdoor church service for bikers? I couldn’t get a read on what was going on other than motorcycles everywhere!
We had beautiful weather all the way through LA and into Mississippi.
And into Alabama…
Then, late afternoon we got stuck in a massive thunderstorm. It slowed our progress, plus a couple more stops and road construction in Tennessee… I thought we would’ve been here an hour sooner. Ah, well! The nature of road travel!
This is actually Emmett’s very first ever stay in a hotel! He was confused at first, but once he sniffed the room top to bottom, he happily chewed his Busy Buddy in bed. Now, he’s tucked into bed with his very own Rupert (#3 on his Bucket List! There will be a post to explain Rupert after the road trip.) Sorry for the poor photo quality. Didn’t want to turn on an extra light and wake him!
We’re getting up early to tackle the next leg of our roadtrip, so off to bed for me. I may not get to write a full post every day this week, but I’ll try! If not, I’m posting sporadic pics to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram with the #EmsBucketList hashtag.
Hope you all have a great start to your week!
Long travel days are exhausting. Emmett looks like as long as he has his bed and toys, he will be just fine.
I am glad to hear Emmett is a happy traveler. I hope you continue to have a great time. Blue skies, green lights, and Godspeed.
Nothing like driving in traffic to wear you out! Hope you guys are having a fun time!
Thinking of you and Em. Praying for safe travels for the two of you.
We are following your adventures from our boring lives. 🙂
So no problem at the hotel? We would probably bark at all the sounds cuz that is how we roll. Good job!
Your Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
I’m glad you got to your first stop safely, even though it didn’t go as smoothly as you’d hoped. Hope Day 2 is going better, traffic-wise and all!
My dogs envy you Emmet 🙂 How I wish I can bring my dogs on a road trip (I have 4 dogs) The eldest, Jahna experienced many travels and she misses her traveling bag :-(. Unfortunately ever since I got Luqui, (a Husky) it’s very hard to travel. Anyway, have safe travel guys. Enjoy the trip!
