Emmett’s Bucket List: Top 10 #EmsBucketList

06•02•14

Here’s the thing about creating Emmett’s Bucket List: I struggled to complete it because I kept feeling like it was too final, like once we checked off all the items, it was like telling the universe we were ready to let him go. Which we’re not. Nor will we ever be.

Emmett's Bucket List: Top 10 #EmsBucketList

I needed to change my mindset! That’s why this post has taken WEEKS to come together. What I decided to do was a Top 10 list! This leaves room for coming up with more as we check things off his list. So, here it is:

Emmett’s Bucket List: Top 10

1. Eat a steak dinner.

2. Be a Pinups for Pitbulls male model.

3. Get his very own Rupert (his favorite stuffie).

4. Go for a night out at a restaurant…

4.5 … followed by a froyo.

5. Swim at the beach.

6. Enjoy a picnic in the park (without his brothers).

7. Wear a bowtie to a party in his honor.

8. Host a fundraiser for a charity TDB.

9. Capture his spirit in a portrait.

10. Embark on an Epic Road Trip!

If you’ve been following along, you know that the road trip is the current focus – we leave this weekend! I’ll have all the dates, stops, and events for you tomorrow – so stay tuned! We really want to see you along the way!

I would be tempted to put something impossible to achieve on the list.

Jan, in the first draft, I had “Have his picture taken with President Obama.” Maybe I need to add that back in!!!

I love the idea of adding to the bucket list as long as you can. It’s like you’ve put a tiny hole in the bucket to leave enough room for something new.

Hope you have a great road trip with your sweet boy.

I’m so glad you left room for new additions – which are sure to come. This is such a fantastic idea! I wish you a wonderful, safe trip, with loads of memorable moments shared together. Emmet’s a lucky boy!

Great idea to do a top 10 – and add more as you go! Have a fantastic time on your road trip!

Hope you don’t mind if I make a suggestion, but it was something someone suggested to me with our last pup and I was so glad they did. In addition to capturing his spirit in a portrait – be sure to get someone to do a photo shoot of him with your guys in it! I’m always the one behind the camera at our house, so when someone suggested that to me, I realized I didn’t have any good pics of me, the hubs and Abby together. I was SO glad we did a photo shoot – those pics are treasures now!

Looking forward to hearing about your adventures and the many many many things that Emmett will scratch off the list!

I love it!! I particularly like #7 – there’s something really awesome about Emmett wearing a bow tie to a party in his honor!

Haha! I know! Although, I didn’t realize how difficult it is to find a LARGE bowtie for a dog! 🙂 There are tons and tons of teeny, cute ones…. but nothing for a huskier boy. I think a clip-on for his collar is going to be my best bet!

I would feel the same way about crossing everything off the list, so I would always keep one thing undone….or keep adding one thing whenever I got to the end. 🙂
