Handmade leashes and collars: Review and giveaway

05•09•14

I am a HUGE fan of handmade. I love to shop Etsy for gifts because they’re always unique and, you can totally tell, made with love.

So, when my friend Ann mentioned she was starting a line of handmade, crocheted leashes and collars… I was super excited. And then she sent us some!

Ann was inspired by her dog, Scout (check out her Positively Pit Bull profile!). She said, “Scout just hates collars. She throws a little fit every time I put one on and just scratches at them constantly. I have searched for 3 years for something that wouldn’t irritate her. Finally, I decided to make one and she didn’t object to it at all. I tested a few different styles, found that I needed rings stronger than what I originally used, made some modifications, and…. here we are. Soft but very strong, and washable.”

I LOVE washable!

The collars are definitely very soft – I can see why they don’t irritate Scout. Ann makes them in every color and pattern you can imagine. She even did a Mardi Gras collar for Lucas!

So cute!

Plus, Ann makes her collars for a good cause: For every collar or leash she sells, she donates one to Pets for Life. It’s a program in Indianapolis that goes into low-income areas to offer free vaccinations, microchips, and a basic vet checkup. Plus, they can exchange the tools they’re currently using – chains, cords, duct tape, even a guitar string – for a legitimate leash and collar.

Honestly, how cute do my guys look?? (Ann did make one for Newt, but Newt was NOT in the mood for a photoshoot… on this particular day and, pretty much, any other day!)

If you can believe it, these handmade leashes and collars are only $12 a piece. Check out her website to see some styles and options and to order a set for your pup! At that price, you can’t go wrong. I’m thinking it’s a good way to build up your holiday-specific leash and collar sets! Or to change out seasonally!

Thanks to Ann’s incredible generosity, she’s offering a totally custom handmade leash and collar to one winner!

This is a Rafflecopter giveaway. The widget should load below in a few seconds, or if you’re in a reader or email, you may have to click the link.

These are beautiful, I love handmade as well (since I’m definitely not talented that way myself). Don’t your guys look so handsome in them!
I love everything about them, the colors, the price, and that she donates them to a good cause.

Thanks Maggie! Actually, the price is only $10 per collar or leash. I added 4 new colors/patterns this week for people that I haven’t added to my web site yet. Any color anyone wants, I will make it.

I suspect if I gave in, I could end with a very large collar collection, BUT only if I had matching leashes. I love having Delilah’s collar match her leash! 🙂

Very cute! These would show off nicely on Ace’s black fur. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
