I’m still putting the final touches on Emmett’s Bucket List, but one of my goals was to incorporate more one-on-one activities with him. For many years, while he was working as a therapy dog, he and I did so many exciting things together. We both missed that.
So, as soon as I heard that the new Mexican restaurant in town allowed dogs on their patio, we planned a night out!
When we got there, he was SO excited. I posted his look of amazement on Instagram:
Honestly, it couldn’t have been a better evening. John and I, plus our friend Matt (Lukey’s musical pal) got a great table on the edge of the patio. Emmett immediately became the center of attention. The wait staff all came over to give him scratches, and he made instant buddies with a darling little boy at the next table over (who barely ate his dinner because he was watching Emmett the entire time).
He looked dashing in his collar and scarf from The Proper Puppy, I think! I’m calling this his “going out” set now.
Amy at GoPetFriendly.com frequently makes the point that it’s important to support pet-friendly businesses. I completely agree! As far as I know, this is the only one in Houma, so we may make this a weekly hot spot for Em! (Plus they have incredible margaritas for the human end of the leash.)
He did get bites of a few treats: chips, a little piece of chicken, a tiny bite of fish, a zucchini. He loved every minute of his night out! We’ll be doing it again very soon!
Does your town have many pet-friendly restaurants? Do you take your pup out to eat?
Sorry to say pets aren’t allowed anywhere her except Lowe’s and Hope Depot. Looks like you had a wonderful time!
Your Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
What a great place to take a dog. We have no restaurants that allow dogs.
He looks absolutely adorable!!
I’m not sure we have any dog friendly restaurants around us and I’m not sure I would take mine if we did. 🙂 Delilah would constantly be diving under tables when someone dropped something and Sampson would be knocking things over with that tail of his, trying to get someone’s attention. LOL
I live within walking distance of the Tower District, the funky artsy part of Fresno. There are a number of places that have outdoor dining and welcome, or at least tolerate dogs. A number of coffee and tea places (including a famous chain) have no problems with dogs on their patios. The best, genuinely dog friendly eatery is a Mediterranean restaurant called Meza House. They are honestly happy to see dogs, ask if you’d like a bowl of water, and even let Hershey roam their enclosed patio off leash; at least until other customers showed up! Now that the weather is warmer I think the pooches and I will be spending more time there nibbling shawarma and falafel.
Hooray for Emmett! I sure wish I could take Dash or Lilly to a restaurant. They would be so excited that I don’t think we would make it through cocktails…
Love the bandanna – the checkers are so cute!
Not many dog-friendly patios here, but I definitely agree we should show support for those that are!
Though, sometimes the dogs are a bit of a spectacle, and if I’m just looking for a quiet meal, they’ll have to stay home.
How lucky to be able to take Emmett to a restaurant. There are a few places like that here but I can’t imagine taking a pet pig to a restaurant (there would be no food left…) 🙂
Love the pictures. I am so glad you all had a good time. This makes me want a margarita tonight!
What adorable pics! He looks like he’s having such a great time! There are a couple of dog-friendly places here, but I worry about taking Rita. She gets anxious if she feels cornered, so I worry about where they might seat us. There’s also a BBQ place that is supposed to be amazing -they even give bones to the dogs. But that worries me – the bones seem like an altercation waiting to happen. Wish Rita was a little more easy-going. Unfortunately, like her momma, she has many concerns!
Emmett looks so darn handsome in that collar/scarf! What a lovely time and it’s so nice you have a place like that to take him to.
I don’t know of any dog friendly restaurants in our area, not that I’m sure any of our dogs would do very well at one anyway though.
That photo of Em is priceless! And, thanks so much for the mention!
