It’s easy to forget that breed-specific legislation is integrally linked to dog bite prevention. So often, breed discrimination stems from an isolated bite incident. That’s why it’s so important to spread awareness about dog bites, and help those who are less dog savvy understand how to prevent dog bites.
This week is Dog Bite Prevention Week, and the AVMA put out this infographic that I thought was interesting. Does anything on here surprise you?
I was surprised that of the 4.5 million people bitten, that less than 400,000 of that number were kids.
This is a fantastic break down!
I was pleasantly surprised that the graphics are of ‘normal’ dogs and not the “Pits,” Rotties, Dobies, and German Shepherds that we’ve been conditioned to associate with dog bites.
