I’ve seen various t-shirts, stickers, signs, and so on with the phrase, “All you need is love and a dog.”
How sweet is that?
I stumbled across this free download of the saying as a desktop background. I downloaded it immediately, and it’s been making me smile all week so wanted to share it on this special day!
Anyway, Happy Valentine’s Day!
I know this isn’t the most popular of holidays for a lot of people for a lot of different reasons, but… I actually love it! I love that it celebrates love! It’s the perfect excuse to tell everyone in your life – not just a significant other – how much they mean to you. I know, I know. You may argue that we should be doing that all year, and I don’t disagree, but having this big, splashy reminder doesn’t hurt, right? And, in fact, it’s been a big holiday in my family for ages, and we always exchange cards (except I totally dropped the ball this year, dangit).
In honor of this day of love, I’m holding a little photo contest on Facebook. Here’s the scoop:
Post a picture of your pets that you think represents LOVE on the theme thread! It can be anything at all as long as you think it reflects that theme.
There will be TWO winners!
- One will win by popular vote. In other words, the picture that gets the most likes wins the popular vote.
- The second winner will be selected randomly, just to keep the playing field even. There’s an extra step here; after you post your picture on the thread, come back here and use the Rafflecopter widget below to be entered to win that second prize.
The Rafflecopter widget is below. Sometimes it takes a second or two to load or, if you’re reading this via email or a reader like Feedly, you may have to click the link.

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! We love that you’re here and are so grateful that you come back every day. On this special day, we’re celebrating YOU!
What a great picture of your crew!
Thanks, Debra!! 128 pics and this was the best out of them all… 🙂
I love the photo, but is the cat wanting to be a dog? 😉
When it comes to cheese… YEP! 🙂
I’m actually deeply skeptical about the automatic equation of dogs with love. (Ditto with loyalty, friendship, and the other sappy stuff.) Maybe because Silas needed love + a mountain of time and effort + a lot of cash, and he’s still a hard dog to live with.
Ah, now that brings up a very interesting point! I personally think that love is work… romantic love, familial love, and so on. I suppose my definition of love doesn’t include anything automatic but rather hard work! Although until you commented, I never really thought it through, so thank you!!
That is an awesome photo….I love that Newt is wearing a bandana too!
Thanks, Jan! I thought it was worth it, though my bandaged fingers might disagree! 🙂
