This is how he’s always done it. We definitely can’t take any credit for teaching this.
Cooper’s Quirk from Maggie Marton on Vimeo.
For the Lucas/cat training situation, I’ve been trying to create “normal” scenarios for him to practice being around Newt, so I bring my laptop to the neutral room at night to work and let them be around each other. Since Coop kept tackling Lucas when he tried to approach her, we’re practicing while Cooper is supposed to stay on his bed… Even though he kept getting up, it was too funny not to film. We’ll practice the behavior another time. 🙂
Does your dog have any quirks like this? Any funny behaviors that came naturally?
omgosh!! Cooper is hilarious! he walks backwards like its perfectly normal and natural for a dog, it looked like you hit the rewind button. I want to hug and squeeze your dogs (yes I know I’m extremely close to being a dog stalker)
You can hug and squeeze them anytime! 🙂 I feel the same way about Cash!
hahaha Cooper moonwalking into bed! Love it!
What a goof ball! On my Blog roll all I saw was “So Cooper does this thing” and I giggled immediately! I knew it would be good….
Too funny!! Glad we could bring you a giggle!
Moonwalking! HA! I never thought of it like that, but you nailed it!
That is precious. My dogs don’t like to put their butts on the cold hardwood or vinyl floor so they will try to back up to a rug when I ask them to sit.
Too cute! And smart!
18 lbs Graham comes into the house hyper-excited and usually spends the first minute or so flinging himself back and forth between the two couches facing each other in the living room with enough force to scoot one farther and farther back with each bound. It gets really exciting when 60 lbs Hershey decides to join him…
That is hysterical, Erik! You have to get video of that! 🙂
Ok, just tell me that isn’t the cutest thing ever. Well, it is. Adorbs!
Aw! Thanks, Debra!
absolutely hilarious! Way to go Little Man
He sure is a silly little guy… 🙂
Well that pretty much seals it – I am in love with Cooper
He loves you, too, Jodi! 🙂
That is TOO funny! I have never seen a dog do that. I’ve seen our dogs back out if they’re in a tight place between furniture or something but that’s about it. I can’t think of anything our dogs do that is quite that quirky! 🙂
He’s a quirky fellow… 🙂 This got me thinking, actually, about all the weird things that Cooper does regularly. There are quite a few. I may be putting in some time with my video camera over the Thanksgiving break…
Hahahaha!! He is making sure he doesn’t miss anything!
I think you’re right!! My mom saw him do it in person, and she said he was being very smart because he was watching me IN CASE I got a treat out… who knows?
That’s too funny…reverse dog 🙂 I don’t think I could ever get Chester used to cats. I took in my Grandma’s elderly cat for a while and I WAS able to get them in the same room. I had to constantly follow Chester around though saying “Leave it!”. Gretel’s problem with the cat is that her curious but polite self would get too close and the cat would attach her 🙁
That’s good progress for a short-term visit! We’re 5 months in and still trying…
That is just too cute! Love it! thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Elizabeth! 🙂
I wonder if Cooper really just wants to keep looking towards you, and that’s why he backs away? What’s crazy is that he knows exactly where he’s going across the floor at an angle.
I think you’re right! But now you have my evil brain working… what if I set up obstacles? Or put it somewhere else? Hmmm… Go-to-your-bed agility! 🙂
