You guys, I was counting down to today’s giveaways. These products are among the best of the best.
FIVE gifts guaranteed to make your recipient giddy with Christmas cheer!
ThunderLeash
Another awesome product from ThunderWorks. Seriously, I adore our ThunderLeash for a few reasons. First of all, Cooper is a puller. Big time. Not when we’re walking, but when we jog… he pulls like a maniac, and since I’m still new at this whole jogging thing, it totally messes up my stride and my pace. That, and his regular leash/collar situation caused him to gag and choke. The other HUGE reason why I love this: It fits all three of my guys. Look!
And, if you don’t want to use a harness, like when Cooper goes for a stroll, it works as a regular leash, too. This is one of the coolest things we’ve tried – it’s one of my most favorite products of the year, for sure! $30 from ThunderShirt (AND free shipping!)
Pet Cooler Carrier
You guys got a sneak peek at the Pet Cooler Carrier when Newt was snuggled up after her trip to the vet.
This is one of my favorite innovations. It looks like a typical carrier, and in a lot of the fundamental ways it is. But see that top part? It flips open to reveal a unique chamber that allows you to do a couple things. You can fill it with ice, which helps keep the compartment below cool. Imagine having to take your pet to the vet on a hot day or waiting at an agility trial or driving to go hiking or whatever, you can keep your pet refreshed inside the compartment because the ice cools it, but also fills a little reservoir with a valve that your pet can drink from. If it’s not hot – like you wouldn’t stick ice in there this winter! – you can fit all sorts of things in the top compartment. Since it was Newt’s first time at this vet, John stowed her shot records in there. After the appointment, he stuck her rabies tag in the compartment, so he didn’t have to fumble with anything else as he carried her to and from the car. During the appointment, all the techs and admin folks at the vet’s office were scoping it out and just loved it. The carrier comes with snap-on flaps that can shield your pet – or, as they recommended to us – when your pet is just hanging out like Newt does, you can switch out the front gate for the flap so it’s like a little doggy door. We seriously love it, and Newt does, too! Which is amazing because she HATED her old crate. Also one of my favorite products of the year. $120 from Pet Cooler Carrier
Viva La Dog Spa
I’ll admit: I’m a sucker for cute packaging. So I was sunk when I saw this:
This set of products from Viva La Dog Spa includes everything the pampered pooch needs for a spa day right at home. My personal favorites are the deep conditioner and the Moroccan oil treatment with argan oil – both are PERFECT for Emmett’s super dry, super sensitive skin. I’m not a huge fan of the fragrances, but I know many people who love these for their dogs. The company does something incredibly innovative: Their manufacturing plant is solar powered! How awesome is that?! They source the bottles locally, too. They also “pre-cycle” which means they buy up packaging that other companies rejected because they changed the design, made a mistake in the manufacturing process, and so on. I can really get behind a company striving to cut down on waste. Prices vary by product choice from Cardinal Pet
True Blue Fresh in a Flash
Emmett has super dry skin. Like, it’s painful to see him suffer during the winter. We have a bunch of strategies in place. He takes supplements. We have special shampoo. But he still needs a little extra help WITHOUT extra baths (because they dry his skin so much more). Enter True Blue!
The Fresh in a Flash Cleansing Spray gives his coat a little boost of clean without stripping him of the oils he needs to keep from over-drying. My favorite part, though, is that the product doesn’t build up on his coat. This is a sweet, inexpensive stocking stuffer to give or get. $12 from Amazon
Chaser
Remember when I reviewed Chaser a few weeks ago? I loved this book. I loved the emphasis on the positive bond between Chaser and her human. And now, here’s your chance to win a copy!
In case you’re new here (welcome!!) or you missed the review, you can refresh here. We were given a copy to read pre-publication, and I was totally counting down until it became available because I know you guys will love this book! It is a fabulous gift to give to any dog lover this Christmas, though don’t be surprised if your recipient chooses to read all through Christmas dinner – it’s that compelling! $15.29 from Amazon

I am so interested in the leash. All my boys pull – and I have a couple short (fat) faced Puggles so the gentle leaders don’t really work on them…I might have to put that on my Christmas list along with the DNA kit for Rom!
That’s a really good point, Crystle. Those types of tools don’t work for every dog. This seems like a one-for-all kind of solution! And please, please let me know if you DNA test Rom!! 🙂
Holy Moly, I’m going to go broke with these recommendations, but I really think the Thunderleash is a winner for Julius.
It’s such a simple solution, but those are the best kinds I think!
Curious about the thunderleash–do you find it works to manage pulling from the start? I’m thinking I might get one for foster dogs.
That is a really excellent question. Since we’ve been working on pulling with Coop for so long, I can’t say for sure whether it helped immediately, if he was thrown off by a whole new tool, etc. so I went in search of other reviews. I found this one on Dog-Milk, and she does say it stopped her pup from pulling immediately: http://dog-milk.com/thunderleash-2-in-1-dog-leash-and-no-pull-harness/. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the wonderful write up about our new invention, the Pet Cooler Carrier. We are just an ordinary couple who decided to take a chance and move forward with an idea. It’s been a long road but we are finally gaining some traction, thanks to people like you! :o)
I just shared on your FB page a Groupon Goods deal that just went live yesterday, so the timing is perfect! With Groupon the deal is unheard of! They are offering it for a limited time for $69.99 with FREE shipping and FREE returns. That’s a deal even we can’t offer…and just in time for holiday shopping. ;o)
Again, I’m so glad Newt (and the vet office) loves it! We appreciate you!
Sorry for the double post (if it came through that way) our PCC page wouldn’t let me share, so I had to mention your name. Then I realized my personal page would, so I shared the lin that way. Okay, I’ll leave you alone now. :o) Have a barkulous day!
My YaYa has a very heavy coat that can get smelly. I am always interested in finding something that really works on her!
The spa treatment would help Lucy, she has dry skin that causes her to itch like crazy sometimes.
Hershey pulls so much she wore out a Gentle Leader in about six months so that thunder leash seems like it was made for her.
What great products you find, Maggie! That carrier is really awesome. I love the spa products too….I’m also a sucker for cute packaging. And what a great company that sounds like!
