We received our very first BarkBox, so I thought it would be fun to do a video of the contents… with lots of “super helpful” help from Cooper and Newt. (You’ll note one of her favorite go-to moves: Sneak up behind Coop. Bite him in the ankle.)
We check out the October BarkBox! from Maggie Marton on Vimeo.
Okay, so if you sat through all that… 🙂 Here’s the scoop: BarkBox is a monthly subscription service that delivers a box of goodies each month based on your dog’s size. So we’re subscribed to the large dog box. If you get small or medium, the contents are probably different form what we showed in the video.
As you saw in the video, the contents are all high-quality products that I’d be purchasing for these guys anyway. The biggest bonus to the subscription is that a variety is delivered right to your door – and, as we all know, it takes variety to keep high-energy, intelligent dogs like Coop entertained.
Because I believe in BarkBox – the quality, convenience, and price – I’ve decided to work with them as an affiliate. This is the first time I’ve ever found something that I loved enough to do so! Plus, the company gives back: 10% of their proceeds go to a shelter or rescue. You can fill out an online form to nominate your fave shelter to receive the funds, too!
To launch the partnership, for a limited time, you can get $5 off a subscription to BarkBox if you use THIS LINK. (Yep, it’s my affiliate link.) If for some reason the link doesn’t give you the $5 off automatically (it should, but just in case!) the super secret coupon code is: ohmydog5.
What do you think? Do you subscribe to BarkBox? Have you tried a monthly subscription service before? I absolutely love the idea if the product, price, and convenience are right!
Those treats and toys are so great. Plus there’s the added bonus of one less trip to the store every month!
Awww you’re a pro at these vlogs now! Look at Coop and Newt! So cute! LOL I’ve been tempted to get a Barkbox but I now have Titan on select treats only and hate introducing new ones that he’ll like. We finally got rid of those blasted Frosty Paws! haha Thanks for sharing gf!
Hah! Thanks for the kind words… It’s definitely a work in progress. For example, why is it long and skinny instead of filling the frame? Hmm. 🙂 Thank goodness I have my faithful assistants on hand to help! 😉 Isn’t it tough to find the right things for our sensitive pups? I was THRILLED that Coop could actually eat the treats that came in the BarkBox because it’s so hard to find things that he’s not allergic to! Oh, our sensitive babies…
What a nice idea for treats to come into the home once a month. Certainly something to bark lots about. Cool thing is that the shipping to Canada is also free!
YES! How great is that?!
we love the Bumi, well Cash does. I think because it’s floppy in his mouth when he runs, Cash thinks it’s an animal, well that’s my theory. they ship to Canada so I’m definitely considering it, my only issue is deciding what size to order medium or large, Cash is 50lbs but he’s pretty rough on his toys. I’ll ask them or just go with the large, and change to medium if I need to.
That’s so funny – I didn’t think of it that way! Coop loves it and does the shaky-head-kill-it thing, and I’m guessing you’re onto something… Hmm… So Coop is only 42 pounds, but I always go with large for him simply because he’s so rough with his things. Large items tend to be a tad more durable, at least in my experience. But you can always switch if need be. I’m SO GLAD they ship to Canada!!
The Barkbox sounds like a lot of fun, and certainty looks like a hit with Cooper! I’m always torn on what size things to get Diggs though, because he weighs right in at 50 lbs. Any advice from other medium-large dog owners?
Here’s my thought on that: Coop weighs 42 pounds, but he SHREDS his toys so I always go with large stuff for him. I would suggest going up a size simply because, in my experience, “large” items tend to be a little bit more durable/longer lasting. I think you wouldn’t want to go down a size for any reason because then the items might be too small, choking hazard, whatever. If Diggs is super gentle, then medium could work. Hope that helps!
This is an awesome review! For some reason, Vlad & Barkly come running when they hear your voice. I’m not sure what it is, but they love your voice.
That’s hilarious! And flattering! My guys don’t even seem to hear my voice half the time… 😉
Hey! What kind of dog is Cooper? I rescued my dog when he was about 3 months, and he’s 10 months now and I still can’t really get a clear answer on what the vet thinks he is. But, he has a look of similarities to Cooper, so that’s why I ask!
Hi, Chelsea! Cooper is some kind of pit mix… I suspect he’s mixed with a hound, but I’m really not sure! If you’re really curious, we did a Wisdom Panel DNA test on our other dog Lucas that gave us his mixes – it was interesting, of course, but I sure love having mixed pups!
