- Lucas had a BIG day yesterday. More on this later, but he passed his trial day at a local doggy daycare! I’m so proud of the big guy!
- In light of point #1, I’ve been thinking a lot about personality vs. training/socialization. Which one carries more weight? Can they cancel each other out? Something to think about…
- For the past couple months I’ve been working with a trainer on an ebook about clicker training for a digital publishing company. I’m so excited that it’s almost finished! It looks fabulous, and it’s full of useful tips and tricks. More details to come!
- I’m so excited, honored, giddy, and gleeful to announce that Oh My Dog! was named the Best Dog Blog of 2012 by DogTime Media. Thanks to YOU who come back and read – even when I’m posting sporadically – and thanks to you who voted. I’m seriously so lucky to be part of this dog-loving community. This is just icing on the cake!
- Finally, have you ever seen anything so cute?! His little chicken wing back leg as a nose cover on a chilly night… precious!

Wow, you sounds really busy!! I think I might be tired now!!
I love when they tuck their nose under their foot. So cute!
And yes, I keep reading. Because I really like your blog and like seeing Cooper, Emmett, and Lucas!! I will admit I cheat and use google reader so I don’t have to keep checking for posts-I know exactly when there is a new one!

Congratulations on all your good news! You must be awfully proud of Lucas.
I also ponder the personality vs training thing. We tend to expect more from dogs than we do from ourselves. If a person says, “I’m not really a public speaker” we accept it. But if a dog is shy, we try to train him out of it.
It’s hard to know the balance.

Congratulations! That is such a great honour and so well-deserved. 🙂 Also great news for Lucas. You two are obviously a great team and have worked very hard.
The whole nature vs. nurture argument is fascinating and it’s so hard to say. Every dog is born with a unique personality, obviously. Like people, some things they are capable of overcoming and others not. I think as trainers it’s important to understand what drives or motivates a dog and the reasons for their fears. I like to believe with the right tools, a dog can conquer most things, no matter how difficult a start he received, but that might just be wishful thinking.

Congratulations! And that is one DARLING photo!
