I know I’ve mentioned Cady here many-a-time. However, in honor of the week she’s spending with us, I thought she deserved her very own post!
Cady lives next door. Cady and Lucas love each other. Since the very first day Cady moved in, she and Lucas have been attached.
They were friends when she was a baby.
They were friends when she got a little bigger.
And they’re friends now that she’s really big.
Lucas helped celebrate Cady’s first birthday.
When she’s in her yard, Lucas runs up to my office to watch her – and cry and whine and bark – while she barks up at him from down below. We call them Romeo and Juliet.
Emmett loves her, too, of course.
And when Cooper was our brand-new bean, she came over to help break him in!
But no one loves Cady more than Lucas… and I’m pretty sure the feeling is mutual!
They’ve gone from this:
To this:
With a lot of snuggling in between!
Cady is the sweetest, happiest girl. Her tail almost never stops wagging. I could not have hand-picked a better best friend for Lucas!
While I have hundreds of pics – and lots of video, too! – of these guys, I want to end with a pic that I took last night. They ended up crammed in like this, so I didn’t want to risk adjusting lighting or grabbing my real camera… This just HAD to be captured:
That last pic is priceless. 🙂
Aww, baby Cady! I’ve never seen dogs that don’t live together get along as well as this little herd. I love it when they talk through the windows
Cady is such a pleasure to have around the house! She keeps Lucas nice and busy while we’re working and she keeps Cooper from getting into so much trouble! And, she’s adorable….
How nice to have a best friend! I love thinking about doggy friendships, who they like, who they don’t like, etc. Some dogs get along with every dog. My dog Kelly doesn’t seem to get along with some dogs and I can’t decide if it’s male dogs, female dogs, big dogs, or just what is the common bond. I love the last picture too, a pack of friends!
I just love doggie friendships 🙂 So sweet!!
Thanks for the wonderful post! Those photos are terrific. We just couldn’t imagine life without the boys and are so grateful for Cady and Lucas’ wonderful friendship!
Hi Maggie,
I’m always amazed, although I’m not sure why, to see that dogs ready do pick and choose there friends.
My 2 ½ year old Shih Tzu boy had taken a liking to a 9 year old Bichon girl that lives across the street. She’s quiet and shy while he is outgoing, she is gentle and he is rambunctious, she wants to take naps while he wants to goof around.
For all intents and purposes, these two are totally mismatched but they seem to be in love. So we arrange weekly play dates for them but between those, they yelp at each other. Oh, I do wish I understood exactly what they were saying to one another.
By the way, I love your blog and I visit it frequently. I have also incorporated your link within my DogProducts.org site as a valuable resource for my visitors. Would you be willing to return the favor by placing my link right here on your blog?
Hanna
I’d love to see a pic of the good friends, Hanna! I guess they’re just like us: You just really “mesh” with some more than others! Like you, I so wish we could understand what they’re saying to each other…
Too cute, you might have just motivated me to get the play date pics posted!
