I am an “everything happens for a reason” person. But when I started to get sick this weekend, I wasn’t thinking, “What’s the reason behind this?” Instead, I was thinking, “Holy cow. I’m a week behind on emails. I have a mountain of work to do. I need to train with Lucas for our session on Monday. The house is a mess. Why, oh, why am I sick now?”
The answer: All those reasons I panicked about. I spent yesterday in bed, and even though I feel really far behind, it sure was nice to have a day to snuggle.
I think dogs provide the perfect role models for this. Dogs don’t chug coffee because they’re exhausted but want to stay up late to work. Dogs don’t force themselves to go out to lunch with that other dog they don’t really like but feel obligated to see occasionally. Dogs don’t overschedule themselves then lament that they have no free time.
Unless you consider moving your naps from the east side of the house to the west side mid-day to maximize sunniness as “overscheduled.”
While I try to dig my way out, here are a few random updates:
- We think Emmett’s health issues might have been solved. It seems he has a strain of E. coli that caused a urinary tract infection, too. It’s likely this caused all the vomiting. I’m not clear if it’s related to that spike in his liver enzymes. He’s on antibiotics, then he goes back in. Fingers crossed that this is it!
- I am excited, thrilled, overwhelmed, and overjoyed by the response to Positively Pit Bull! In fact, submissions started rolling in the same day it was posted! I plan to spend some time this coming weekend curating what came in, getting all the posts scheduled, and finalizing the technical details. If you sent me a submission, you will hear from me within a week; if you haven’t sent one, please do! 🙂
- Lucas was supposed to have his second session of his reactive-dog boot camp today, but due to a scheduling snafu, she moved it to Wednesday. I have an entire post about all this training coming up soon, but for now, my jury’s still out…
And now for cute pictures of Cooper (who weighs 28 pounds, by the way!!! 28!!!).
I posted this on Facebook yesterday because I just couldn’t believe it. Sorry for the grainy cell phone pics. Here’s Cooper on his very first outing. This was November 6.
And here he is waiting to pick up John from work last week.
In the first pic, I couldn’t get his head in the same frame as Emmett and Lucas. He’s getting so big so fast!
Sniffle, sniffle.
Awww. Cooper. He just gets cuter also!
Glad to hear Positively Pit Bull is getting such a good start. I am very excited about it and it is a great initiative to do something for the breed. Hmmm, maybe I am gonna steel your idea and do something like that for Hovawarts 🙂 Hope you feel better soon!
Steal away!! I’d love to see a collection of Hovawart stories!
So cute dogs
WE want more
I hope your snuggle day was revitalizing. Cooper looks adorable there!
Cooper is enormous! What a sweet-looking guy he is. I am sure he is growing up to be quite the character.
I am glad Emmet is doing better, I hope you’re able to put an end to all his health woes for awhile. Feel better soon yourself!
I love the picture on the back seat. You must be a trip to watch drive down the road. I refer to it as unauthorized growth! I look back at the puppy pictures of Spike and Dru and yell at them “Who gave you permission to grow so fast?”. I don’t really yell, it’s more of a loud inside voice.
Oh, wow! He’s so big!
Isn’t it amazing what dogs can teach us? lol
So happy to hear that you may have diagnosed Emmet. I know from experience that the not knowing is the hardest!
Wow, your little one is getting big fast! What a cute picture of the three of them all sitting pretty in the back seat. 🙂
