I know, I know. Thanksgiving has come and gone. We’re moving onto Christmas and others, right? ‘Tis the season!
But in the whirlwind that was our dog-crazy roadtrip, I realized that I missed sharing a little gratitude. So here goes.
I am thankful for:
- Emmett’s liver enzyme levels slowly returning to normal with the potential for a diagnosis on the horizon.
- Lucas running, running, running at a dog park in Maryland – and surviving a total of 22 hours in the car, his least favorite place to be.
- Cooper joining our family. WhenΒ he’s fully house-trained, it’ll be an even bigger celebration! π
- John’s patience with me as I built my freelance writing business this year.
- A wonderful holiday celebrated with friends and family.
- This blog and all of you who come back and read about my guys and obsess about dogs right along with me.
That’s my short list… If I had the time, I could list 100 more!
But what about you? What are you grateful for this holiday season?
Also, stay tuned: The results of the pet health survey are coming this week. If you haven’t had time to answer the three short questions yet, please do!
I think I’m a little behind, but I didn’t realize you had adopted Cooper! I thought you were still fostering. But that is great news! You have a lot to be thankful for, and that is wonderful. π I am thankful for a new husband, two fur-babies that keep us on our toes, a loud and crazy but loving family, a house with heat, Christmas decorations, Starbucks coffee, and sweats. lol
I’m thankful that despite having a puppy in the house, Emmett is still his wonderful self. I’m thankful that Lucas finally got a puppy of his own (he’s always wanted one). I’m thankful that Cooper has two great role models. I’m thankful that your freelance writing business is getting going and that your blog is so great! I could go on and on….
Every night before we go to bed, we’re thankful for the little orange dogger laying next to us! We thank our lucky stars for him every night π
Very simply, I am thankful that Jasmine is still with us and loving her life. After all she’s been through and two near death experiences, every day she can enjoy is a gift.
I’m glad the holiday went so well and you all survived the road trip. 22 hours in the car is a tough time for everyone. Good luck with Cooper!
Today I am thankful for super-fast work days and sunshine.
YIPPEE! YIPPEE! YIPPEE! You adopted Cooper! Congratulations, Cooper! You sure did pick a Most Perfect forever family!
Okay, now…things I’m grateful for:
1) a soft, warm place to sleep each night
2) food that comes at the same time (more or less) each and every day
3) ear skritches
4) learning new stuff
5) humans who keep me safe
6) my Brudder Ranger and my kitteh siblings
7) all my bloggie buddies
Like you said, I could just go on and on. Every day, I think I find something else to be thankful for and I make sure to let my mom know about it!
I hope your Thanksgiving was happy!
Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
I lost my oldest dog, Cole unexpectedly, on Aug.15 of this year. I miss him everyday but I am grateful for the nine years that he lived with us and that he knew he was loved every minute of every day. I am grateful that I still have Maddie and Wishbone to keep me company and to snuggle with on these cold nights. They seem to ‘listen’ when I talk about Cole, and I know that they miss him, too. I am very grateful for my previous four Dobes who showed me what unconditional love one species can have for another. I came to be a ‘Dog-Mom’ late in life and my one regret is that I wasted so many years when I was young being dog-less. Had I known then what I have come to realize now, I would have been a much happier person and been much enriched spiritually as well.
My dogs are the most precious gift I have ever been given. Their soft breathing in the night reminds me that I am never alone; the warmth of their fur under the covers promises that I will never be cold; a quick “kiss” lets me know that I am loved, no matter how old & wrinkly I become. The ability of my dogs to live in the ‘now’ allows me to look forward to each day and night, every walk and dinner as if it were our first and to appreciate it with them in case it is my last. I am grateful that my dogs continue to love me despite my flaws. Anyone who has loved and been loved by a dog is blessed every day: Happy Thanksgiving to us all.
What a beautiful tribute. Thank you for sharing, and happy Thanksgiving to you, too.
