1. Cooper has doubled in size since he got here two weeks ago. Seriously. He weighed 6.2 pounds the day we brought him home. Today, two weeks later, he weighs 12.2.
2. Emmett is feeling much, much better. Thank you all so much for the kind words and wishes. His special diet is working for him, he’s not barfing, and he’s even playing with Lucas and Cooper a bit. We go back to have his liver enzyme levels checked again in a couple weeks.
3. Even though I really love Twitter, I’ve discovered that when I get super busy with work, it’s the first to go, followed by Facebook, and, sadly, followed by blog posts. The next couple weeks are super busy. Boo.
4. This. This just melts me.
5. Last night, just after midnight, Cooper woke up and started playing with his toys in his crate. Training dilemma: We’re trying to build up really positive experiences with his crate, so playing with his toys – instead of crying or peeing – is a huge improvement. But it was after midnight. What would you do? Stare at the ceiling and let him play? Or take the toys away?
6. We’re gearing up for next week’s big roadtrip out east. Three dogs in the car for 12 hours. I may not come back in one piece. Or sane. (It’s actually a 10-hour drive, but with all the dog-related stops, it takes 12.)
7. Cooper thinks he’s a big boy.
8. This? This also melts me.
Lucas takes up this entire bed. You know, when Cooper doesn’t kick him out of it.
9. Regarding the aforementioned road trip, does anyone have any podcasts they recommend? I heard the Victoria Stilwell one is pretty good, though I haven’t downloaded it yet. Any suggestions?
10. That’s actually it. I don’t have anything else to say, but I felt weird with a list of nine things. Hope you’re having a great start to your week!
Cooper couldn’t be cuter! I’m glad to hear Emmett is feeling better – a puking dog in the car for 12 hours is SERIOUSLY not fun, and have a great time on your trip!!
Thanks, Amy!! And I’m going to search our route on GoPetFriendly.com to see what comes up, too. Hopefully I can find some great places for them to stretch their legs during the journey!
I’m so glad to Emmett is feeling better!
Also, check out the “Stuff you Missed in History Class” podcasts from HowStuffWorks.com – I love these podcasts (I’m a history nerd) and they are only about 20 minutes each.
Those photos melt me too. I love the one with the tug toy.
I’m so so glad Emmett is doing better now. That’s a huge relief! I hope he continues to improve.
Good luck with the road trip! That’s very courageous of you.
What a happy-making post. I luved all 10 things! Even the 10th thing cuz it was funny.
Good luck and be safe on your road trip! Usually we go to Oak-luh-home-ah for Thanksgiving, which is a 10-11 hour trip. But this year we’re going to visit my Auntie K and Cuzin Bridger so we’ll only be in the car for 6 hours. 6 hours isn’t NEAR as bad as 10 hours, for sure!

PeeS. My mom said that when they gots Brudder Ranger, they left him in his crate with bones and toys but finally just couldn’t stand it and took them out. He wasn’t any the worse for wear. But if Cooper cries or whines, it might be just better to listen to squeaking than that.
Glad to hear he’s feeling better. And I can’t believe how fast Cooper is going. I want to hear reports of your road trip. I listen to This American Life and Radio Lab when I have to do my 20 mile training runs.
I’ve got to tell you, Cooper looks SO MUCH like my lab mix when she was little. I should send you pictures of her as a puppy because it is crazy!
Kim, Send pics!!
Oh My! Cooper looks so tiny on that bed!
Have a great trip. Your pups are so…..well they melt me too. 🙂
Aww! Thanks, everyone!
