UPDATE: Thank you, everyone, for your kind words and prayers! They’re obviously working! I’m so excited to update that Emmett’s screening was ALL CLEAR! Wahooo!! So he’s now been cancer free for one year post-surgery. He has his next screening in March, then another in September… after which point he’s 100% clear! He was such a good boy at the oncologist’s office, jumping up on the x-ray table and holding perfectly still all by himself. He snuggled his doctor and all the techs, so I got him tater tots from the drive thru on the way home! 🙂
Please think happy thoughts!
A few weeks ago, someone asked me to tell Emmett’s cancer story. The whole situation is still so raw for me that I could barely keep from crying as I told his story. The good news, though, is that since his surgery last fall, all his previous scans and checkups have been all clear! Now, Emmett and I are on our way to the oncologist for his one-year checkup.
Lest I leave this short post on a serious note…
I’m sending you my happiest, most brindle thoughts. (Which is especially appropriate for Emmett!) I just know everything’s gonna be A-okay!
Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
You and Emmett are in my thoughts. I’m glad the diagnosis was good this past year. Please let us know what the oncologist said.
Emmett and you do such wonderful work with kids and on behalf of Pit Bulls. He is lucky to have you, and I know you know that you are happy to have him in your life.
Thoughts and prayers for great results on the one year check up. I’m sure your attention and love have helped Emmett grow strong.
Thanks, everyone, for your kind words!
Wheee! That’s brilliant news! I’m so glad he’s all clear for another round.
He looks pretty happy too. 🙂
We are thinking of you and we’re glad the diagnosis has been good to this point. This must be really hard to go through…
Thank you, thank you! It has been really hard, but Emmett’s such a trooper. I’m really proud of him and so thankful that all’s well!
Yeah! Great news, so happy for you guys!
hi,
Just found your blog. Emmett and Hank share the anniversary. Hank had most of a nerve sheath tumor from his right front leg a year ago. He has quite few lipomas so I just assumed it was another one. Fortunately the vet I go will do a needle aspirate for all new lumps, even if a dog has a lot of lipomas. Due the invasive nature of the tumor, not all of it could be removed from the elbow since it is all wrapped around tendons etc.
I routinely feel and compare the left and right front elbows to see if I can feel it growing back. Had a real scare about two months ago when I felt a lump on the left (other) elbow. Turned out to be a lipoma. Yeah!
Hank sends a big WOOF to Emmett.
