Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but I’m very happy that the weekend is (finally) here! After two weeks away, John got home last night, and Emmett and Lucas were so excited… they didn’t know what to do with themselves. They were spinning and hopping and jumping, and I think John was pretty happy with his big welcome-home!
So this weekend, we’re planning on relaxing, getting caught up around the house, and – if it’s not in the triple-digits outside – going for nice long walks. I’m going to make the boys some homemade doggy ice cream as a fun treat, and we’re going to try to get up early on Sunday to take them for a hike around a nearby lake. The last time we went on this particular trail, it was March, and there was still ice on the lake!
Instead of a big debate for today’s community question, I’d love to know:
What special activities (if any) do you plan with your dogs on the weekend? Do you mix up your routine? Do you plan activities around your what your dogs would enjoy? How do you spend your two days off?
We always try to mix things up. All non-work activities are planned for the dogs! 🙂
On weekends, our guys get to spend the day at friends’ horse farm. They love that.
Who gets the weekend off?! Honestly, for us, one day goes right into the other – weekday and weekend day. There is nothing special. When the opportunity presents itself, we get out of the RV whenever we can. Doesn’t matter if its rural hikes or city walks, out is out. And all of this is further complicated by the fact that Ty doesn’t like to be out as much as Buster, and when he is, he doesn’t want to walk as far.
Weekends off? First of all, we like to sleep the morning, A LOT. Then, we’d take a walk in the park (it’s like 3 blocks away from home) and stay there for a while… Yes, I know, there’s nothing out of the ordinary there, but it’s what we usually do.
When we’re on vacation, I take both my dogs with me for a long, long drive to my grandma’s house… They LOVE it there, it’s like 20 times my place in the city. 🙂
