What we did last night…

06•25•10

Last night, Emmett and Lucas were bored! I’ve had to work late almost every night this week, and it’s been so hot that we haven’t gotten much walking in either. So at around 8:30 PM, I decided to take them outside and work on a new trick. Once I discovered that Emmett was a hoop-jumping fiend, I embellished it a little, and here’s what I came up with:

( Ed. note: This was totally spontaneous, so please ignore the overgrown/half-dead grass situation and my ridiculously pale legs.)

Take 1.

Take 1: Emmett jumps Lucas from Maggie Marton on Vimeo.

Take 2.

Take 3.

As you can see, Emmett catches on quickly, then proceeds to get a little carried away! I think we may have to refine the jumping a little bit… specifically, getting him to wait for his cue! I was really impressed with Lucas, too, for staying so still while his brother leapt over him.

This was a lot of fun, though, and I plan on working with them on more elaborate tricks!

What’s the most fun trick you’ve taught your dog? Any fun games you can try this weekend?

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Gosh, that was SO much fun to watch! And I’m Most Impressed with Lucas. I don’t thinks my Brudder Ranger would let me jump over him like that.

Um, let’s see…I can weave between my mom’s legs. It’s pretty fun and it didn’t take long to learn and for some reason, peoples are really impressed by it.

Oh, guess what? I gave you an awardie on my blog today. Come see if you gets a chance!

Emmett sure is enthusiastic about the jumping! Good for Lucas for staying still as a prop. LOL

Darby knows “under the bridge” where I taught her to run under my legs. Always a crowd pleaser.

Ooh! That’s a fun one. It’s too hot for the boys to be outside, so we’re doing trick training in the living room today! We may have to tackle that next.

Emmett is a jumping fiend! It’s too funny! We took that show on the road on Friday to the children’s mental health hospital, and the kids took turns holding the hoop and testing how high he’d go. They had a blast, Emmett had a blast, though he hasn’t been able to do much (other than nap) since!

Adorable. Agreed that Lucas staying still is perhaps more than the hoop leap. Holly’s most popular trick is a leaping two-pawed high-five (like a sports star who has just scored a goal). I always feel like I’m cheating when people are impressed by it, because I did not teach her the trick, she just does it.
