This is what Emmett normally looks like:

And this is what he looked like last night:

The good news is that the two bumps were NOT cancerous! Wahooooo!!!! It’s such a humongous relief, and so we continue our countdown to Emmett’s one-year-cancer-free celebration!
Anyway, he’s still a bit groggy and definitely sore today. I’m not even going to show you the picture of his back and how much of his beautiful, brindle fur was shaved. (Does anyone know: Does it grow back in the same pattern?) The challenge today, though, is keeping Lucas from trying to “help” by licking Emmett’s sutures…
So for today’s Link Love, I wanted to pass along some of the more useful canine cancer resources I’ve found over the course of Emmett’s battle. I know from looking at my Google Analytics, a lot of you have arrived on this blog looking for cancer info, so in addition to the resources below, you can always email me!
Fight Dog Cancer – an online forum for people to share stories about their dogs’ battles with cancer.
National Canine Cancer Foundation – their Canine Cancer Library has a ton of useful, straightforward articles.
About.com: Veterinary Medicine, Dog Cancer
Tripawds.com – when we thought Emmett might lose his leg, this site was incredibly helpful.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Today would normally be the day Emmett and I volunteer at the children’s program at the mental health hospital, but instead, we’re going to snuggle up, watch a movie, and just be so, so grateful!
Hug your puppies!
P.S. Don’t forget to create your End BSL postcard!! I laid out the challenge to get 100 between this past Tuesday and next Tuesday… and we’re not even halfway there yet! Full campaign update will come on Tuesday!
Such good news to hear that Emmett is ok! Nice way to head into the weekend.
YES! Thank you, Rod! I don’t think I’m going to let go of him until I have to get back to work on Monday! 🙂
Emmett looks so pitiful! But I’m glad the news is good.
My step-brother’s dog is brindled, and after her spay her hair grew back just fine. Of course, later she developed seasonal alopecia, and that hair never quite grew back right. It’s wavy and none of the lighter color showed up, just the dark. Weird.
Anyway, yay for good news!
SO relieved that our little guy is okay. One year cancer-free, here we come!!!
Yay for Emmett! As the owner of most beautiful brindle furs myself, I will be very much interested to see if yours grows back in the same pattern. I bet it will!
We think that some peoples and doggies and kittehs have come over from our bloggie to find out how to make their own postcards so paws crossed that you get more soon!

So glad to hear Emmett is still cancer free!
Sooooo glad to read this. My little girl had to go through testing every year after her cancer diagnosis, and I know how I held my breath. Give Emmett a special tummy rub from FIDO Friendly.
Thank you so much, Carol! Emmett will definitely appreciate the tummy rub!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, everyone!! I can’t even begin to tell you how much I appreciate all the kind comments. It really cheers me up during a really stressful time. The GREAT news is that Emmett has bounced back! He’s his usual silly self, though for the next 10 days I need to keep him calm and still so his two incisions can heal. While that’s a challenge, it’s such a humongous relief that both bumps were benign!
I’m so happy that he is OK. That is great news! I’m sure you’re properly giving him lots of attention and spoiling him! He deserves it!
