What can you do to help an animal today? Here are a few ideas to consider, but I’d love to hear your ideas!
- drop off extra blankets, towels, leashes, bowls, etc. to your local shelter
- write a letter to your local and state leaders urging them to pursue humane legislation
- sign a petition
- volunteer for a rescue
What about you? What can you do to help an animal today?
These are all noble/worthy gestures. But we forget. What may be helpful is to create these days as National [drop of stuff at your local shelter] Day. My feeling is that people would really respond – if they knew in advance that the day is coming up, with reinforcement from FB and Twitter. This sounds like a job for BlogPaws!
YES!! A National Drop Stuff off at Shelter Day would probably need a catchier title, but would be absolutely wonderful! I think pet owners tend to gather up lots and lots of pet supplies – leashes, bowls, etc. – that go unused. It would be wonderful to organize a day to flood the shelters with those supplies. I’m going to put a little thought into this…
