About The Dogs
“Nobody can fully understand the meaning of love unless he’s owned a dog. A dog can show you moreĀ honest affection with a flick of his tail than a man can gather through a lifetime of handshakes.”
Gene Hill – The Dog Man
This is Emmett:
We adopted Emmett, a hound/Staffie mix, in 2006 from a shelter in Virginia. It was love at first sight, and he’s been a true delight from day one (not including his counter-surfing habit). Emmett adores people, especially children, so he and I recently became registered as a therapy team through the Delta Society. Emmett developed cancer in 2009 but has been cancer-free for six months two years! A few posts about Emmett, including the whole cancer saga:

And this is Lucas:
We adopted Lucas, a Shepherd mix, in early 2007. That first year, every single day was a struggle. The poor guy was terrified of everything, ranging from other dogs to plastic grocery bags, and he cowered if we tried to pat him. It was a long road of rehabilitation, but worth each tiny baby step. Now Lucas can’t get enough of the dog park and adores snuggling up at night. Get to know Lucas better:

This is Cooper:
Cooper, an American pit bull terrier mix, started as our foster pup on October 31, 2010. By November 1, we knew we wanted him to be part of our family. He’s a whole ball of trouble as only a puppy can be. But he’s also smart, sweet, and a big cuddle bug. Get to know Cooper better:
