Blog the Change: National Pit Bull Awareness Day

Mark your calendars! Save the date! Be the change for pit bulls! On October 27, celebrate National Pit Bull Awareness Day!

Be the change for ME!

From the organization website:

National Pit Bull Awareness Day (NPBAD) is a day of appreciation and education designed to change perceptions and stereotypes about pit bulls and their responsible owners. NPBAD was established to educate and foster positive communications and experiences in the communities in which we and our dogs live, and it is an initiative dedicated to restoring the image of the American Pit Bull Terrier.

Here’s how you can be the change for pit bulls and pit bull-type dogs:

  • There are events planned all across the country. Find a NPBAD event near you!
  • Nothing in your area? Spread positive pit bull love across your favorite social media channels!
  • Help dispel stereotypes. When you hear someone spreading myths about pit bulls, politely step in and correct misinformation.

  1. What a perfect subject for today’s blog the change! I’ve known about the date for a little while and am trying to come up with an idea for a post. I hope this year it is bigger than ever!

  2. Thank you for the heads-up, Maggie! I, too, will be at BarkWorld, but I’ll be sure to pre-schedule a post about this on my own blog, for sure.

We (Dog House Adoptions) just placed a little rescue pitty named Lucy who looks just like the dog above. You should see how she and her two-year-old human get along. PRECIOUS.

Thanks so much for Blogging the Change!

  3. Thanks for the info! I didn’t know it was getting close to National Pitbull Awareness Day, I will definitely spread the information to my shelter and hopefully I can get involved in a NPBAD event nearby :) My biggest push will be in Miami though, where BSL is at it’s worst and hopefully some progress can be done there soon.

  4. Thanks for always spreading positive info about the pitties! Every little thing helps, and we can all make a difference, even by politely correcting misinformation or sharing cute pitbull pictures. I love the pic you chose for this post!
