Review: Woman’s Best Friend
I recently finished Woman’s Best Friend: Women Writers on the Dogs in Their Lives, and I absolutely have to recommend this book. It’s a collection of essays that explore our unique relationships with our dogs. They range from heartbreaking to uplifting to utterly hilarious. Though there were a couple essays that I did not agree with, the overall theme of the book was that the human-dog relationship is completely unique and personal and means something different to everyone. Though the book was compiled by women writers, its themes are applicable to any dog lover.
Also, because of the essay format, this is the perfect book for busy schedules. And with fall peeking around the corner, it’s the perfect time to snuggle under the covers with your pup and dig in to a good book!

I just got a mailer from Rutgers University Press. In it was a book that came out in December 2008 called “Milk Teeth: A Memoir of a Woman and her Dog,” written by a sociologist at the University of Vermont. Anyway, if you’re interested, here is her website address that has more information on and an excerpt from her book: http://www.robbiepfeuferkahn.com/
