A little narcissistic, maybe….

I’m going to be honest: Receiving comments on this blog is the highlight of my day! Every time I get the little notice, I get so excited to see what you have to say! Multiply that excitement by, like, one million each time I get a new subscriber (I’m up to five… wahoooo!!!!).

So I decided today to thank my Number 1 commenter…. MATT M. (my super fab brother in law) by showcasing a series of pics of his adorable, almost unbearably cute pooch Lucy. Now that we live in Indiana, we don’t get to see Lucy as frequently as we used to, and I definitely miss the tiny little fur ball curling up in my lap. She is an absolute delight to be around, and since I can’t be there to give her a good belly rub… here are some of my favorite Lucy pictures:

How cute is she?! Her cousins both miss her – even if she and Lucas don’t really “get” each other. :)

I’m happy to post pics of your pup too if you’d like! Simply post a comment, and we’ll work out the details!

Lucas look sad, but he's really just exhausted!

“If a dog will not come to you after having looked you in the face, you should go home and examine your conscience.”
- Woodrow Wilson

A serious-sounding quote for today, but for some reason it made me giggle!

It’s hard to bark at a bird with another dog’s head in your mouth!

Typically, Lucas guards the backyard heavily whenever we’re outside. Anything that comes near – a bird, a pedestrian, even the occasional errant leaf – gets barked at. With Turk here, though, that whole dynamic has changed. Apparently, Lucas prioritizes wrestling over guarding! For example:

The two of them tolerate a lot from each other. While they primarily just chase around in circles, occasionally they tussle. Both have a good sense of when it gets too rough, and they general just roll around and mouth each other. Yet sometimes, it can look awfully vicious! For example:

Lucas looks mean!

And:

The blurriness makes Turk look psychotic!

But even Emmett – who is usually very grump and uninterested in puppy play – got in on the fun!

Unfortunately (for them and for me!), we’re having a bit of a thunderstorm today, so they’re stuck inside. Hopefully the weather clears soon, so we can get back outside for some more play!

Dog Blogroll

Emmett gets tired working at his desk!

Emmett got tired while helping me scour the internet!

As you can see (unless you’re reading this in RSS), the blogroll over here at Oh My Dog! is pretty slim.

I’m on a mission to hunt down the best dog blogs that I can find to build out the blogroll. First up is Raise a Green Dog! Not only does the blog have tons of great tips and tricks for training and for health, but all have a sustainability message – something I’m always looking for!

So click on over to Raise a Green Dog! (now located in the blogroll). In the meantime, I’m going to keep searching for some other great sites to share with you!

I dare you to ring my doorbell

This past weekend, John and I went out of town for a friend’s wedding, leaving the boys with my parents and their pup, Otto.
Otto is such a cute little bugger!

Otto is such a cute little bugger!

Otto is a tiny dog with a huge amount of playful energy. He and Lucas are best buds and can keep each other entertained for hours and hours. Lucas, though, does not recover from their play sessions as quickly as youngster Otto does, so when we went to pick them up last night, I think Lucas was relieved.

However… unbeknownst to us, we were committed to do a little dog-sitting for my cousin’s chocolate lab pup, Turk. Turk is adorable, sweet, smart, pretty well-mannered. But he is a five-month-old chocolate lab, so, in other words, his enegy level puts Otto to shame!

Turk takes a brief early-morning nap!

Last night, as we headed off to sleep, we put Turk in his crate. The poor little guy was just crying and howling and barking… and then he stopped… turns out, Lucas had gone over and laid down next to Turk’s crate to keep him company over night! He was still sleeping there this morning. Too sweet!

Luckily the three dogs are all good friends, but with three large, energetic pups, it’s going to be a busy week!
